What is a troubled home?

A troubled home can be defined as an environment in which a child lacks the nurturing, love and attention needed to ensure a successful adult hood.

This does not mean children from nurturing homes will always be successful.  It means children that suffer from abuse, neglect and violence and less likely to be successful.

Why is a troubled home so detrimental to a childhood?

When a child is not encouraged by his or her parents and shown a loving, healthy way of dealing with life, it can create doubt within his self.  Often this insecurity can lead to abuse of drugs, alcohol and perhaps even his or her own children.  It may also cause mental and emotional disabilities that will go untreated for long periods of time, which can become lethal to the child's physical health as well.
